[::..Break a Leg!..::]

Yesterday, was one of those days!
I walked to work. Enjoying the glorious sunshine and the greens. Listening to some important stuff on me ipod....reached work, greeted whoever passed me by, got a patient, dried to plug in the defibrillator under the bed, then.....click....
.
.
.
I couldn't stand up, couldn't walk, could only Hop!
I busted my knees in just 30mins at work. It was excruciating. But all I could think of was how am I going to leave the department while we are short of staff this week? So, I steady on, drag myself around on chairs with rollers. Hobble around for a bit, sat some more.
.
.
.
One of my colleagues bandaged my knee, got me ice and told me to sit still.
Then I spoke to my doctor, Rakesh. He said I need to see someone in case I tore or broke something inside. May or may not need surgery....I was scared. So, he spoke to Sofian, a nice Bruneian doctor who is a registrar in Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. Asked him to arrange for me to see someone quick. So, I hobbled down to my hospital lobby. Sarah managed to persuade the transport man to send me to C&W hospital. At C&W hospital lobby, I met Sofian. He asked me the dreaded question: "When is your date of Birth?" I hate answering that question these days. I am getting old people! But I had to answer him since he was passing my info to his colleague. So, I registered at A&E, usually, it takes you 5hrs to be seen. But I was called in, in just 2 minutes after registering.
.
.
.
The SHO asked me questions, pried my knee here and there, pressed here and there! Painful!Ouch! Then he said, he needs to speak to the A&E Registrar. And I overheard him presenting my case. He started with, "This 28 year old lady....." And in my head I remembered asking myself, "Who's 28? Who is he talking about?" Then it struck me, it was me! I was the 28 year old lady! Damn it. I forget sometimes. Sometimes I get confuse and say I'm 27! Haha. I might do that still when I'm 37. It's not fabulous being 28, unmarried, with a broken knee in a foreign land. Believe me.
.
.
.
I couldn't straighten my knee. It was just toooooo painful. It felt hollow, and tender. So the doctors said I tore a ligament, or tendon, I can't remember coz I was fussing in my head about when I am going to get well. The doctors said, give the knee a rest to heal, don't go to work if I can't bear the pain, and on Friday morning, come and see them again. They will decide if I will need an operation.
.
.
.
So, I hobbled home. Very tired on my left leg as I have been using it to walk. In the bus, a fat boy stepped on my injured foot and all I could do was give a little smile of pain. Then a fat woman tried to squeeze in the next seat to me, almost knocking me off my seat. I was so pissed off by this time. So I decided to squeeze her in even more. I paid for the bus ride, i have a right to my side of the seat, especially when I am in pain with a busted knee.
.
.
.
Got home, realised that I have no food. So had to eat Maggi for now. Can bear going out again. Had to pray sitting down on a chair. Called my darling friend Lala, and told her I am Owen (He busted his knee as well!) Can't walk. Had to use a chair as a walking frame. I feel so useless. So, today, more pain killers, more anti inflammatory. I really hope, I'm back to work tomorrow. We don't want to piss off our bosses do we?????????

[::..I'm Happy Today!..::]

It is amazing how when you cry a little cry for help someone comes and picks you up.....

I was in the midst of falling into oblivion and drowning, and got a surprise tinkle from a certain someone. It was a real surprise as it was totally unexpected. I meant not to cause panic to the world, but my little cry for help was big enough for him to say, "Salam, you are not really drowning are you?"

Even at that, I was happy and uplifted. The conversation was like a very good counselling session. It started with hopelessness, and I came out feeling hope. Hope that He hears my cries.

And the certain someone said, "I expect great good from you." That was enough. Enough for my ailing soul.

That night, I finally got to see his face. It was fair, with a bright aura over it. It was the look of a learned man.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
And I thoroughly enjoyed the lesson that night.
I really did. My Journey to *****

[::..One Chance..::]

This week, was a good week. Paul Potts finally released his first Opera album. I'm not opera expert, but I think Paul did justice to all the songs. Paul is currently on a year sabbatical leave from Carphone Warehouse and busy touring UK, America and some other parts of the world to promote his CD and he has his own concerts now. Excellent. This CD: One Chance is released in 17 different countries. Millions all over the world was touched by his performance during Britain's Got Talent and the week it was released, it went straight to Number 1 on the UK charts. The album is being produced by you-know-who: Mr Simon Cowell himself!

One of my patients was an opera singer. She used to perform in the Royal Opera House in her younger days as a soprano. I asked her what she thought of Paul. And she said he was brilliant. A good opera singer and she hoped that good things will happen to him. I attached a sample of his album One Chance to my blog. So, have a listen to it and enjoy.

[::..OPERATION D.E.A.T.H..::]

O P E R A T I O N D .E. A. T. H
by G.H.E. Vanker

This is a tale of an average man,
Who acts contrary to Allah's plan,
If you are reflected herein,
Then repent, and commit no sin.

It was early in the morning at four
When death knocked upon a bedroom door
"Who is there?" the sleeping one cried
I'm Izrael let me inside

At once, the man began to shiver
As one sweating in deadly fever
He shouted to his wife
"Don't let him take away my life."
"Please go away, O Angel of Death I'm not ready yet
My family, on me depend
Give me a chance, to go back and mend.

The angel knocked again and again
"Friend, I'll take your life without any pain
It's your soul that Allah requires
I come not with my own desires.

Bewildered, the man began to cry
"O Angel, I'm so afraid to die
I'll give you gold and be your slave
Don't send me to the unlit grave."

"Let me in O friend", the angel said
"Open the door, get up from your bed
If you do not allow me in
I will walk through it like a Jinn.

The man held a gun in his right hand
Ready to defy the Angel's stand
"I'll point my gun towards your head
You dare come in - I'll shoot you dead.

By now, the Angel was in the room
Saying, "O friend - prepare for your doom
Foolish man - Angels never die
Put down your gun and do not sigh."

"Why are you afraid - Tell me O man
To die according to Allah's plan?
Come - smile at me, do not be grim
Be happy to return to him."

"O Angel, I bow my head in shame
I had no time to remember Allah's name
From dawn 'til dusk, I made my wealth
Not even caring for my spiritual health."
"Allah's commands I never obeyed,
Nor five times a day I ever prayed,
A Ramadhaan came and a Ramadhaan went,
But no time had I to repent."
"The Hajj was already obligatory upon me
But I would not part with my money
All charities I did ignore
Taking usury more and more."

"Sometimes I sipped my favorite wine,
With flirting women I sat to dine.
O angel I appeal to you,
Spare my life for a year or two."

"The laws of the Qur'aan, I will obey
I'll begin Salaat - this very day.
My Fast and Hajj I will complete
And keep away from self-conceit."

"I will refrain from usury
And give all my wealth to charity
Wine and unlawful women , I will detest
Allah's oneness I will attest."

We Angels do what Allah demands
We cannot go against his commands
Death is ordained for everyone
Father, mother, daughter and son."

"I'm afraid, this moment is your last
Now be reminded of your past.
I do understand your fears
But it is now too late for tears."

"You lived in this world, two score or more
Never did you, your people adore
Your parents you did not obey
Hungry beggars, you turned away."

"Your two ill-gotten, female offspring
In nightclubs, for livelihood they sing.
Instead of making more Muslims
You made your children non-Muslims."

"You ignored the muadhin's Adhan (call to prayer)
Nor did you read the holy Quraan.
Breaking promises all you life
Backbiting friends and causing strife."

"From hoarded goods, great profits you made
And your poor workers - you underpaid.
Horses and cards were your leisure
Money-making was your pleasure."

"You ate vitamins and grew more fat
With the very sick - you never sat.
A pint of blood, you never gave
which could a little baby save."

"O human, you have done enough wrong
You bought good properties for a song.
When the farmers appealed to you
You did not have mercy, this is true."

"Paradise for you? I cannot tell
Undoubtedly you will dwell in hell.
There is no time for you to repent
I'll take your soul for which I am sent."

The ending however is very sad
Eventually, the man became mad
With a cry, he jumped out of bed
And suddenly, he fell down dead.

O! Reader take a moral from here
You Never know, your end may be near.
Change your living and make amends
For heaven, on your deeds depend.

[::..Happiness! There's always NASPE...::]

There are many things in this world that makes me happy. The top most one is knowing that my loved ones back at home are well. Other things are my two best friends, Sunnipath, my books, Quranreading.com, my DVD collection, my supper expansive goose down pillow from Marriott Shop, the memories of loved ones from the past, eating all the time but nothing beats this:
I PASSED MY NASPE PACING EXAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That slightly folded envelope welcomed me when I opened my door. The long bus journey made me forgot all about my results today. But when I walked in, and saw the envelope, I had tears in my eyes. Earlier today, Mark received a huge envelop and I ran across the hospital corridors to hand deliver it to him and he passed. I recalled getting a huge envelop last year from NASPE after I sat for my Electrophysiology exam, and I passed. So, I knew I had in the the bag, but I still opened the envelope just to be sure.

I thought, maybe I scraped through as I was struggling in the exam hall. I came out early coz I just couldn't handle it anymore. I must be the only person in London walking on the streets without make up, wearing jeans and t-shirt, and a lazy hijab. I wanted to be comfortable for my exam. And yet, I walked out of it early with a massive earth splitting headache. Almost everyone, INCLUDING THE BOYS had Neurofen in their pockets. And so did I. I remember texting those who mean a lot to me how I felt about the paper.

Happiness comes in many forms, I may have been the girl who wants everything, has everything, but will end of with nothing. But my moment of happiness is enough!

But, theres one more that made me very happy. It is this:

MY BROTHER GRADUATED!!!!!!!

Signing of for today:

[::..Moulin Rouge, Bollywood and Hong Kong!..::]

Hello.........
Time is too short for those who wait...
Anyway, I have been so busy with work, it is impossible to do anything. UK is supposed to be having really warm weather this weekend but who knows!

I took time off yesterday to catch up on my studies, do my homework, take notes, but it was not meant to be. I did nothing. Woke up at 8am, just like any work day, started eating prawn cocktail, sandwiches, crisp and rice cakes. Stopped eating at 11am, then I started watching movies. I was watching American Pie 4, but it was boring and too vulgar, so changed to Mr Bean's Holiday. It wasn't funny ha ha, but he was kinda cute. Farizah, if you are reading this, that is exactly how we are going to go from London to Paris. By Mr Bean's train. But we will not be stopping in Paris. We will be going to Disneyland straight, then maybe we will spend a day in Paris. We have to take pictures with Eiffel Tower, eat croissants, eat fruit tarts and basically do what the French do! Au Revoir Mademoiselle Farizah!

After Mr Bean's Holiday, I took a big step to watch Bride and Prejudice. I am normally not a fan of Bollywood unless it is Comedy. All the Bollywood films are always so depressing. But this one, was fantastic. And it is in English. You don't need subtitles. It is funny, sad and uplifting. I think all of them did wonderfully in an English movie. I really enjoyed all the traditional dance scenes. It was so colourful, so lively, so happening. If you take a peek closer, you can see Ashanti in a sexy Indian sari dancing and performing in Goa. Very nice, hence my new music in the blog.

So, I stayed at home ALL day. By night, i was itching to go out. Found a Chinese MUSLIM restaurant somewhere in Tooting Bec. Took a long bus ride to Tooting Bec, stopped outside a Church. They were having a function, what sort, I don't know but it looked a bit spooky. So, I fumble in there, went into the church grave, walked among the dead, and saw a woman, dressed in white, make up like she was in Moulin Rouge performing (super white face, circular red blusher, red little lips, curly golden wig), she was dressed in a Victorian costume, only they made it short and sexy, and she was posing on top of a raised GRAVE! I got the shock of my life when she moved. There were Gregorian type songs in the background, another one was on top of another grave, and there were bobbles everywhere from a bobble machine. Whatever they were doing, it looked interesting, but scary! I ran out quickly and found the Chinese Restaurant.

Rose was owned by a Pakistani-HongKong couple. They serve yummy Chinese cuisine. I have to order the Home Platter. They has Prawn toast, wanton, seaweed, spring rolls and ribs. Yes. Lamb ribs. In tangy Peking BBQ sauce. It was yummy! Then I ordered Char Beef Mee. Oh, the beef was so tender, the noodle was fabulous. And they gave a very super super hot sambal on the side. When I finished, a lady in a niqab came in and asked if they have a table for her family. Later on, I saw the staff cordon off a section of the restaurant with movable blinds and partition. I was so moved. I do not wear the niqab myself, but to see a Chinese lady boss and her staff doing such gestures, it was really sweet. So, if there are any niqabi sisters reading this, go to Rose and they can cordon off the area for you so you can eat and take off your niqab. Tolerance for other people's practice, Rose gets thumbs up!

Anyway, I ordered too much, brought a doggy bag home, and had it for breakfast.

Now, I need to study. Sayur Asam is on the stove!

A Wise Man Commentary On the Rat Race of Human Life.

by Writen Hamza Karamali, SunniPath

It was mentioned to a certain wise man that so-and-so had gathered [a great deal of] wealth. He asked, “Did he also gather periods of time in which to spend it in?” When he received the response, “No,” he said, “He hasn’t gathered anything.” (Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali, Dhamm al-Jah wal-Mal, Dar Ibn al-Jawzi, 1995)

Farah: Who can explain to me what this is about. Please leave it in the comments.
