[::..Killer Migraine..::]

Sometimes, I don't understand my body. This month, for the first time in years, I was 'late'. It has never been late ever since it arrived many many years ago. It was late by 10day, and I was so worried. I thought I'm sick. Maybe it is the antibiotics that I took last month. But last month, it arrived. So, it can't be the antibiotics. I'm stumped. There is no good reason why it is late.

I didn't have the usual signs and symptoms. I confided in Momo. Then she asked if I have been under stress lately, and if I have any diet changes. Then it ticked. I was under a lot of work and personal stress the whole of January. Lack of staff, too much work, high expectations....The lack of staff also didn't allow us to have a proper lunch break. Most of the time I swallowed my food. Sometimes, we only eat lunch at 3pm, and by the time it was dinner time, I am either too tired, or still full up. So, out of this whole 27 days in January, I can remember only having dinner on about 5 nights. Most of the time, I get home and just crash. I lost 5kgs in this one month or so. Can't eat any hot food during Lunch, so all I ate was salads day in and day out. My meals lack of meats so much, I get tired easily. I can sleep anywhere, any time. My eyes would close even while I walk. It was so difficult to stay awake. I was anemic before, and I must be careful not to slip up and get anemic again.

No wonder it was late. But nevertheless, I made an appointment with my GP, and was still worried. Mo told me, if I am worried, it will never come. So, I relaxed a bit. And on the day I was supposed to see the GP, it came. Well....cancel the GP appointment then.

So, this weekend, I decided to eat a little bit more. Went out yesterday and had half a chocolate cake. It was so yummy. Haven't had that in years! No, weeks actually. I was lying! hehe....Today, I was craving for blood. I was blood thirsty. So I decided to have a steak. But I had lamb instead. Leave the steak for tomorrow.

I have been having migraines since last night. Maybe I am dehydrated. Already had lots of water. Maybe I need to sleep...yes, that is what I will do now....

I wish the situation at work would get better. Frankly, maybe it is a nice idea to have a trip away from work, doing work! I'm going away again people, for a work trip to another country I have never been....I am so excited. So excited.

[::..Women are from Venus, Men are from Mars..::]

Women are from Venus, Men are from Mars. Two creatures, so different, and yet so alike. People say, Men make love with their eyes, where as women make love with their hearts.
Men think with their 'members' whereas women think with their minds.
So many examples we can quote, but to be honest, we are all the same...........

I rest my case.

[::..Spring Registration is Open..::]

For those of you who are interested in doing Online Islamic Courses, please visit http://www.sunnipath.com to enrol.

I absolutely love Sunnipath. It suits my way of life. I can log on to classes anywhere even at work. I also can revisit my classes as many times as I want. The teachers are very friendly, very knowledgeable, they don't mind you asking all sorts of questions. And the best part is, no one knows who you are. So, it's quite nice to be anonymous. If you are uncomfortable asking questions in class, you can always email them the questions or you can make an appointment and meet them on skype.

I have to go now. Need to sleep. I'm extremely sleepy today.

[::..I Love Shopping..::]

I just discovered that my shoe size is 5 rather than 6,7 or 8! All this while, I had to buy bigger shoes coz I have wide feet. So, today I went to my beloved boot shop DUO to get 2 pairs of shoes. DUO specialises in perfect fitting shoes and boots. For boots, they will measure your calf and make sure you get a perfect fit. The have calf sizes for woman with the biggest calf as well. Then for shoes, they will measure your foot width and bring a few shoes for you to try. I was looking for flats today as well as a tiny heeled shoe. I can't manage stilettos anymore. Not at this day and age, and definitely not walking in the streets of London. No way. Spoils my feet, and my shoe. Unless it's worn for a short period...maybe! :)

So, the flat shoe wasn't problematic. I found a nicely fitted one quite quickly. For the one with the little heel, I took a little more time. I must also keep in mind that shoes expand after sometime. After trying like 4,5 pairs of the shoe, I finally settled for one but I had to use in soles coz that is the only way I can have a perfect fit. It was the most comfortable high heel shoes I have ever worn in my life. I could walk all day in them I'm sure. And I am definitely getting all my shoes and boots from DUO from now on.

Not only are they perfect fit, they are made from nice soft Italian leathers. I don't mind paying a little extra for comfort. This is what I call luxury....I don't really buy shoes for myself. i hate buying shoes coz I never have a perfectly fitted shoes in my life. And using new shoes really piss me off. Blisters and sore feet are just a few of my complains.

You see, my body is a bit odd. I'm always a half size. And not every shop does half sizes. I wear half size dresses and tops, I wear half size shoes, half size smalls and everything is half size. But to be safe, I always have to up size everything and I end up with largeeeeeeeeeeee clothes. Well, this new year, I am determined to look for perfect fitted everything.

Not only have I become nuts with clothes and shoes, I even bought a leather care cream to polish my knee high boots coz I wanna take care of it. Now it sits at the front of my room all shiny...just like new. Yeah, I have been going out with my dirty boots. How sad.

Right, enough with the shopping. I still haven't bought my new black jeans yet. And I can only buy jeans from 1 shop, Dorothy Perkins. Cheap and nicely fitted....Maybe tomorrow....

[::..Saturday is the Best!..::]

Hi ya...I think I have neglected this blog enough. Been so busy at work, can't do anything else.

You know what? I'm quite fed up with the ceiling leak. My landlord kept on telling me, it will take months for the boards to dry up. To be honest, with the leak, even till doomsday, it will never dry up. I had to sleep with the fan on in the peak of winter so I can't hear the water trickling. Initially I thought, wow, sounds like I'm in a spa. The only thing missing was bird songs. But, I can't sleep. It's irritating the hell out of me. I love this flat. It's gorgeous. But, the ceiling....it's rubbish.

I'm so glad tomorrow is Saturday. It has been tough at work lately with all the cases and shortage of staff. But today, we all had a night out at a leaving do. It's nice to have everyone. I normally don't join coz I don't drink. But today, I make an exception for a good cause...And I was sitting quietly with my two drinks at the corner. of course I was talking to people, but after a tough 2 days, I can't walk anymore and mingle. My feet's had it. It has seen better days!

So now, I'm gona lay in bed and start to try to doze off. Tomorrow is Saturday. My favourite day, when I'm not working. Good rest, you little lass...

[::..On a Positive Note..::]

Even after the events of last week at work, I'm still in love. Yes, in love with my job that is. Why else would I be in love then? Yeah, the past 2 entries was meant to set you guys off in a wild goose chase!

Anyway, today at work was a much better day. Tough case, from 9am to 5pm same patient. But you know what? It was damn worth it. We got the culprit in the end. And the operator was fab coz she got us involved in the case. I was making pretty colourful maps of the heart and my colleagues were analysing the complex intracardiac tracings! So, hopefully the rest of the week will be real good. I managed to reach home at 5plus pm today and I am gonna do some serious cooking after like a whole month of cooking nonsense. I also bought stuff for my lunch tomorrow. Rocket salad, beef tomatoes and mozzarella cheese sandwich. Yummy. I love it so much. Maybe I will drop by tescos to get me some yogurt and oranges. It's time I eat healthily.

At the moment, I don't know how my other life is heading. I suppose, it's always a waiting game. However, I am never at the other end of this spectrum. I suppose, I should just take a rest and lay back and let them do all the work. Time for me to stop doing:, "Yeah, it's supposed to be like this, like that, just the way I want it!" No....it's all changed now. I'm stepping down as the bossy Queen and let them Kings take over!

Time to be a real woman in Year 2008!

Vesper.

[::..Dangers of Overcommunicating!..::]

It is proving rather difficult to update my blog these days. And it is because, my mum is so good with the MSN now. She's an expert. So, sometimes when I come home early from work, there she is waiting for me in the MSN. Sometimes when I go out with friends, I come home, and I find her in the MSN waiting for me as well. She always wants details. And I am glad to give her some. Sometimes my poor mum is sleeping, and I would text her and say, "I'm having a fab time!" And she would wake up, log in to the MSN and wait till I come home. So cute....

I went out yesterday. The tube stations were super crowded. Everyone was wearing the Chelsea kit. Chelsea was having a game. I am not into football this season. Only because it's boring me now. My friend and I walked from Earl's Court to Olympia (I think!). You all know what I'm like with directions. I'm always lost somewhere, somehow. Hazards of being a Singapore girl. Had a nice dinner. I didn't manage to eat much. Food was good. But, there's something wrong with me. I have been eating very poorly since I got back from Singapore. Even lunch at work. 3 tiny pieces of roast potatoes, and that's it. I'm back in the labs. I just don't have the mood to eat much. But I can drink a lot.

I have never walked so much in my life. From Olympia, to High Street Kensington, to Knights bridge, to South Kensington then to Kings Road we took the bus back home to my place. Wow. No wonder I slept so well last night. I have to do more walking this year. And I'm sure my knee is ok for cycling now. Momo once again asked if I wanted to join her gym. I am thinking about it. But I'm not sure if I'm ok with the time. I am the worst person for commitment. Especially when my whole heart is not into it. But we'll see how things goes.

I'm so excited. I ordered 5 dresses online and they are arriving tomorrow. I just need to get a few more pairs of shoes and yeay...I'm a happy girl. More flat shoes definitely. So I can walk more. hmmm.....not sure about heels. Especially for walking lots!

See you all soon my darlings!

[::..Golly Wow-The hospital is on fire...::]

A tragedy happened today.

One that made me think.

What is life really about?

I was having lunch with my colleagues in the canteen. At 2.10pm, we passed by the lobby, and saw an ambulance, and lots of medical personnel. In the other side of the lobby, there were lots and lots of hospital beds. We were like, "Wohoo, they are filming Casualty!" Casualty is a prime time medical drama set in a hospital in UK. Then we saw our big big managers, CEO and all sorts of people from the 'Management' team. And we realised that it was filming. It was the real deal. We saw a patient being transferred from the ambulance to the stretcher. We ran up to find out what was happening. All 6 of us knew something big had happened. At the pink bridge, we finally saw it. Royal Marsden Hospital (RMH) is on fire! Big fire.

6 of us followed a secretary who said, we could have a closer look at the roof top. Yeah, 6 of us kepo went up to the cold cold roof, and then we got the big picture. The roof of RMH is gone. All burnt down. Big fire blazing. It was nasty. From up there, we saw the roads being cordoned of around our hospital. Then my doctor called us down. Told us to go and see if they need help.

I got changed and walked towards RMH. It was such a sorry sight. Firefighters everywhere. Doctors, medical staff and all sorts...When we reached there, we were told 2 patients were deemed unfit for evacuation. And we had to hang around. Later they were asking for team 2. So, the techs and a few theater staff went. They said the last two patients are coming down. You know what? These two poor soul came out from the building not even on stretchers. They were just on blankets. I suppose in times like this, it is easier that way.

After the last two patients we safe in the ambulance, we thought, oh, might as well go back. We had a trolley full of medical equipments and monitors to bring back. So, 6 of us. Yeah 6 of us had to push the trolley. And we were rushing coz of the cold. So, it looked like we were very urgent. Photographers were taking our pictures. It was embarrassing. He must have thought we were pushing a patient or something. But in reality, when he goes home and look at his pictures, 6 people were pushing a blooming trolley. I told my friends and my mum. If that picture makes it as first page headline tomorrow, I will resign. It is so embarrassing.

I thought I was ok. I was alright throughout the whole event. But when i reached the comforts of my lab, I looked back and realise, I just wanted to be with my loved ones. What if it was me in there trapped with the patients? In the burning building? It's just depressing. I came home, sombre and just wanted to lay in bed under the duvet. I thought being in the hospital and seeing lots lose their life, I am still not immune to emotions. I was hungry yesterday, but I lost my appetite totally. I just don't feel like eating. And that takes it to 2 straight days. Can't sleep, can't eat since Sunday.

Sigh.....No one really knows, how I feel today...

[::..A New Year!..::]

Wow, it feels as if it was just yesterday we were celebrating Y2K. In reality, it was 7 years ago. Time really waits for no man. So, since Y2K, we have spent 61,320hrs! Amazing.

I don't know what this new year has in store for me. But for sure, I am going to enjoy each and everyday of my English life as if it's the last. Only because it might be my last year in here. I have to get out of UK by 20th December 2008. So, the countdown begins. I have been here 3 years. And I still feel like I started yesterday. Looking around my flat, I am quite shocked at all the things I have. I came with just a suitcase and a box, and now, I am sure I have a million things in the flat.

I am still coughing today, and I was a bit feverish. Ate two Aspirins and hopefully, if god wills, I will feel better tomorrow for work.

To be honest, I thought I was going to have a miserable New Year, but it has been great. I am so glad I took steps to make sure it will be a fun New Year's Eve and New Year. So, a soft drink toast to the family, old friends, and of course to new friends. Not forgetting lost loves and old loves. Like I said before, never the twain shall meet.

I want to make this year worth my while. Be happy and be hopeful. It is not when there is love, there is hope. Now it will be when there is hope, there is love......

PS: I wish they stay small and cute forever, but I know, we have to let go at some point. Teenager....whatever they are!
